Stakeholder Engagement Regarding "Adopting Building Information Modelling for Statutory Submissions under the Buildings Ordinance"

As you may have noticed the Roadmap on Adoption of BIM for Building Plan Preparation and Submission published by Development Bureau at the end of last year (https://www.devb.gov.hk/filemanager/en/content_2373/BIM-Book-content-en.pdf), Buildings Department then issued a consultancy study to evaluate the readiness of different stakeholders in the industry to adopt BIM, including the availability of competent personnel, hardware, software, etc. in using BIM for statutory submissions under the Buildings Ordinance, identify the hurdles that the industry faces, and any incentives and assistances required by the industry for adoption of BIM for statutory submissions.

On behalf of Buildings Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, bimSCORE Limited (trading as Strategic Building Innovation), abbreviated as SBI, would like to invite you to the 1st Stakeholder Engagement to share your views regarding the captioned topic.

20 min: Sharing of the international trends and motivations of the BIM technology as well as the Government’s vision in enhancing the industry’s productivity

10min: Re-cap of 29 Nov 2024 in-person workshop

60min: Four major discussion topics

   (1) Understand the hurdles / limitations / readiness of the building industry; 

   (2) Deliberate the possible technical issues and solutions in adopting BIM;

   (3) Seek feedback on the usefulness of existing local BIM standards and guidelines; and

   (4) Collect insight and specific concerns to draw up the essential conditions of mandating BIM submissions

  • 1. Collection of Personal Data 

       1.1. The information you provide to Buildings Department and bimSCORE Limited (trading as Strategic Building Innovation) (collectively, hereinafter called “BD+SBI”), including any personal data as defined in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap.486), will be used solely for purposes related to the activities of BD+SBI. The activity and the required personal data are detailed in this RSVP form. 

       1.2. Whether or not you provide your personal data to BD+SBI is voluntary. 

       1.3. You are entitled to request access to and correction of any errors in your personal data. If you wish to do so, please write to bimSCORE Limited (Personal Information Data Access Request) via SBI@SBI.international. 

    2. Purposes of Collection

     Your personal data will be kept confidential and may be used by BD+SBI for the following purposes: 

     a. Registration for the activity; 

     b. Communicating with you on the details of the activity and follow up actions and sending you relevant information and / or materials; 

     c. Facilitating communication with you.

    3. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data 

     3.1 BD+SBI may disclose or transfer your personal data for the purposes as stated in paragraph 2 to third parties, including but not limited to the following: a. Any or all of the BD+SBI's affiliates and/or subsidiaries; b. Any third-party service providers, contractors/sub-contractors that, on behalf of BD+SBI, event registration, research and/or analysis, or carry out back-end services, administrative services.

     3.2 We may disclose and transfer your personal data in accordance with any legal or regulatory requirements or any court order applicable to BD+SBI. 

     4. Privacy Policy Statement

    We pledge to comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. In doing so, we will ensure compliance by our staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality. 

    Other than the purposes mentioned in paragraph 3 above, we will not provide your personal data to third parties for direct marketing or other unrelated purposes without your consent.
