【Owner fined over $100,000 for persistently failing to comply with removal orders】

Hey hey hey!  #Stay away from legal trouble!  An owner was fined over $100,000 for persistently failing to comply with two removal orders.  Unauthorised building works (UBWs) adversely affect structural and fire safety of a building.  For your safety and the safety of others, owners should comply with removal orders as soon as possible!

Build & Ding Reminders:
Pursuant to section 40(1BA) of the Buildings Ordinance, any person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a removal order served on him under section 24(1) of the Ordinance commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of $200,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year, as well as a further fine of $20,000 for each day that the offence has continued.
