Building safety tips

【Owners penalised for failing to comply with removal orders】

A matter of such gravity will be in no better hands than mine!  A few more owners were fined or given suspended jail sentence for failing to comply with removal orders.  This is no joke!  Hey hey hey!  Let me remind you once more that unauthorised building works (UBWs) may adversely affect the structural and fire safety of a building, leading to varying consequences.  Owners should comply with the removal order as soon as possible for their own sake.

Build & Ding Reminders:
Pursuant to section 40(1BA) of the Buildings Ordinance, any person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a removal order served on him under section 24(1) of the Ordinance commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of $200,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year, as well as a further fine of $20,000 for each day that the offence has continued.
