Building safety tips

【A number of owners fined for failing to comply with the Buildings Ordinance】

Ah Build would like to remind owners to immediately call and seek a qualified person to carry out prescribed inspection for all the windows in the building concerned upon being served the statutory notice for Mandatory Window Inspection.  The prescribed repair will have to be supervised by the qualified person if any problems arise!  It is the same with removal orders.  Take action immediately to safeguard the safety of your building and the others.

Both statutory notices and removal orders serve to ensure building safety.  Check your building for your worry-free living!

Legal Tips:
Pursuant to the Buildings Ordinance, any person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with a statutory notice served on the person, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine at level 4 ($25,000 at present) and to imprisonment for 3 months, as well as a further fine of $2,000 for each day that the offence has continued.  Failure to comply with a removal order without reasonable excuse is also a serious offence.  The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $200,000 and 1 year’s imprisonment, and a further fine of $20,000 for each day that the offence has continued.
