Description of Seminar:
Traditionally, inspecting building facades involved telescopes and cameras from distant vantage points. However, advancements in drone technology now allow us to overcome these obstacles, enabling high-resolution, close-up photography of target buildings. This advancement significantly enhances the quality of building façade inspections.
Starting in June 2024, the Buildings Department has integrated artificial intelligence to analyse data from aerial photography, allowing for rapid identification of defects on building facades and the automatic generation of inspection reports, thereby improving the quality of public services.
Given the interest from property management professionals in the new technologies used by the Buildings Department, this briefing session will share our experiences on:
- Application of AI for automatic generation of inspection report
- Real-time inspection
- Formation of 3D models for defect inspection on building façades
- Experiences in drone operation within urban areas
- Flight demonstration using SUA auto-flight mode
