Building safety tips

【Hey hey hey! Regular building inspection keeps your worries at bay~】

There are so many buildings.  Why do some owners receive a statutory notice for Mandatory Building Inspection and some don’t?

Hey hey hey!  Under the #Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme, only owners of private buildings aged 30 years or above (except domestic buildings not exceeding three storeys) will have a chance of receiving a statutory notice for Mandatory Building Inspection issued by the Buildings Department.

Should I wait until the receipt of the notice to arrange the inspection?
Regular building inspection keeps your worries at bay.  Owners may voluntarily appoint registered inspectors and registered contractors to carry out inspection and repair for their flats according to the standards and procedures of the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme.  Owners may also join the Voluntary Building Assessment Scheme administered by the Hong Kong Housing Society.  Buildings certified by the Scheme will be recognised by the Buildings Department as having fulfilled the requirements under the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme within the respective inspection cycles.  Please be reminded to appoint a registered inspector and a registered contractor to carry out voluntary building inspection and repair.
