【Owner fined over $70,000 for failing to comply with a removal order】

You know it’s a big deal when you see me!  Another owner erected an unauthorised structure of about 240 square metres without prior approval from the Buildings Department.  The owner was convicted and fined $78,000 for failing to comply with the removal order.  

Build & Ding Reminders:
Pursuant to section 40(1BA) of the Buildings Ordinance, any person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with an order served on him under section 24(1) of the Ordinance, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of $200,000 and to imprisonment for 1 year, as well as a further fine of $20,000 for each day that the offence has continued.
